FCT promotes webinar on new registration criteria in the Latindex Directory.

The FCT, through its Archives, Documentation and Information service, will host a webinar dedicated to presenting and clarifying the new registration criteria in the Latindex Directory, on October 22nd, between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. The session will be moderated by Paula Meireles and Paula Carvalho, responsible for national coordination in the Latindex network, and can be followed via this link .

The initiative, aimed at editors and teams responsible for national scientific and academic journals, will be held as part of International Open Access Week 2026, which takes place from October 19 to 25.

Latindex offers three main services: the Directory of scientific journals, the Catalog 2.0 of journals that meet editorial quality criteria, and the Article Discoverer, which provides access to full-text articles published in these journals. Currently, the Directory has 1210 national journals, of which 319 are already available online. Of these, approximately 70 journals are included in the Latindex Catalog.

In September 2026, Latindex updated the requirements for registering journals in its directory, based on decisions adopted at the network's XXXI Technical Meeting. This webinar will allow you to present these changes, contextualize the new requirements, and support national editorial teams in their implementation.

With this initiative, the FCT reinforces its commitment to the quality, visibility, and dissemination of national scientific publications, while simultaneously promoting the adoption of good editorial practices and the principles of Open Access to knowledge.
