In order to support the scientific community in complying with the Policy on Open Access to Scientific Publications, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through its digital services unit FCCN, provides a website support website that brings together all the information necessary to comply with this measure.

This platform provides:
▪️ clear guidelines for different types of scientific publications;
▪️ a practical guide to support authors throughout the process;
▪️ clarifications on requirements and procedures associated with Open Access.

The FCT has adopted an Open Access Policy because it believes that research funded by public funds, such as those it grants as part of its mission to finance scientific activity in Portugal, should produce results that are in the public domain, freely accessible and reusable by all, thereby enhancing scientific cooperation and the advancement of science, as well as increased visibility for scientific output and its authors.

The advantages of making publications available in Open Access are widely recognized. Its benefits have a direct impact on research, facilitating interdisciplinarity and increasing the visibility of the knowledge produced, but they also have a social and economic impact, bringing research to professionals in other areas, companies, and interested audiences.
