The Automotive Industry in Portugal in the First Half of the 20th Century Takes Center Stage in the Third Session of the “Arquivos do Saber” Series

On September 23, starting at 2:30 p.m., the third session of the “Archives of Knowledge: Science, History, and Memory” series will take place in the Small Auditorium at FCCN, on the campus of the National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC) in Lisbon. Admission to the session is free, subject to prior registration by September 22.

In this initiative by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), organized by the Science and Technology Archive, the topic under discussion will be “The Automotive Industry in Portugal: A Diaphanous Veil of Fantasy (1896–1958),” presented by José Barros Rodrigues, who has been conducting research in the field of automotive history in Portugal. The discussion will be moderated by Maria Luísa Sousa of the Interuniversity Center for the History of Science and Technology (CIUHCT) at NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT).

The “Archives of Knowledge: Science, History, and Memory” series aims to showcase the documentary collection of the FCT Science and Technology Archive, which possesses unique characteristics relevant to the history of scientific activity in Portugal.
