The economic, scientific, and technological cooperation program between Portugal and Serbia was signed on October 18, 1977. Its objective is to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries, respecting the important role of international scientific and technological cooperation in the economic and social development of both.
The program is driven by the need to achieve mutual cooperation through joint research projects, researcher exchanges to improve studies, consultations, and exchanges of ideas in the fields of science and technology, the organization of scientific conferences, courses, seminars, and symposiums, and other convenient forms of cooperation in scientific and technological fields based on common interests.
The main areas of cooperation defined are:
- Information technologies;
- Energy efficiency;
- Agriculture and biotechnology;
- Food production;
- Water resource management;
- Science and technology policies.
