E-RARE

ERA-NETE-Rare-3was a project that aimed to broaden and strengthen transnational cooperation between research funding organizations in the field of rare diseases, which ran from 2014 to 2020. Based on the experiences and results of the previousE-RareandE-Rare-2 programs, it constituted an international model for the implementation of Joint Calls . The consortium was formed by 26 organizations from 17 European, Associated, and non-European countries. Its international dimension resulted in close collaboration with the International Consortium for Rare DiseasesIRDiRCand other European and international initiatives.

Since 2006, the three ERA-NETs E-Rare, E-Rare-2, and E-Rare-3 have successfully implemented a total of 10 Joint Calls to support research into rare diseases. This effort is now being continued by theEuropean Joint Program for Rare Diseases (EJP RD), established to provide additional support in coordinating the efforts of European, Associated, and non-European countries in rare disease research and to implement the objectives of the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC).

This initiative has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 643578.
