E-Rare-3: ERA-NET for Rare Disease Research Programs

E-RARE

ERA-NET E-Rare-3 was a project aimed at broadening and strengthening transnational cooperation between organizations funding research into rare diseases, which ran from 2014 to 2020. Building on the experiences and results of the previous E-Rare and E-Rare-2 programs, it was an international model for the implementation of Joint Transnational Calls . The consortium was made up of 26 organizations from 17 European, Associated and non-European countries. Its international dimension resulted in close collaboration with the International Rare Disease Consortium IRDiRC and other European and international initiatives.

The three ERA-NETs E-Rare, E-Rare-2 and E-Rare-3 have successfully implemented a total of 10 Joint Transnational Calls to support rare disease research since 2006. This effort is now being continued with the European Joint Program for Rare Diseases (EJP RD), established to provide additional help in coordinating the efforts of European, Associated and non-European countries in rare disease research and to implement the objectives of the International Rare Disease Consortium (IRDiRC).

This initiative has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 643578.
