E-Rare-3: ERA-NET for Rare Disease Research Programs

E-RARE

ERA-NET E-Rare-3 was a project to expand and strengthen transnational cooperation between rare disease research funding organizations, running from 2014 to 2020. Building on the experiences and results of the previous E-Rare and E-Rare-2 programs, it provided an international model for the implementation of Joint Transnational Calls . The consortium was formed by 26 organizations from 17 European, Associated and non-European countries. Its international dimension translated into close collaboration with the International Rare Disease Consortium IRDiRC and other European and international initiatives.

The three ERA-NETs E-Rare, E-Rare-2 and E-Rare-3 have successfully implemented a total of 10 Joint Transnational Calls in support of rare disease research since 2006. This effort is now continued with the Joint European Programme for Rare Diseases (EJP RD), established to provide additional help in coordinating the efforts of European, Associated and non-European countries in rare disease research and implement the goals of the International Rare Disease Consortium (IRDiRC).

This initiative has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 643578.
