ERA-CVD: ERA-NET for Research Programs in Cardiovascular Diseases

ERA-CVD Logo

FCT is a partner in ERA-CVD, a project that aims to strengthen transnational cooperation between organizations funding research into cardiovascular diseases, for a period of 5 years (2015-2020), extended to 2022. This consortium is made up of 24 organizations from 19 countries.

In addition to the FCT, the Ministry of Health also participates in this network, through the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), which is responsible for implementing the National Program for Brain and Cardiovascular Diseases (PNDCCV). Recognizing that institutional cooperation is an asset for the promotion and advancement of scientific knowledge and technological development, a Protocol was signed between the FCT and the DGS/PNDCCV, in order to develop the common objective of these entities and better support the national scientific community carrying out research in the area of cardiovascular diseases.

One of ERA-CVD's main objectives is to fund transnational Research and Development (R&D) projects in cardiovascular research. To this end, five Joint Transnational Calls have been launched each year (CTC2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020). The funded projects are presented in the following links:

This initiative has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, under grant agreement No. 680969.
