ERA-CVD: ERA-NET for Cardiovascular Disease Research Programs

ERA-CVD Logo

The FCT is a partner in the ERA-CVD, a project that aims to strengthen transnational cooperation between organizations funding research in cardiovascular diseases, for a period of 5 years (2015-2020), extended until 2022. This consortium is formed by 24 organizations from 19 countries.

In addition to the FCT, the Ministry of Health also participates in this network, through the Directorate-General of Health (DGS), responsible for implementing the National Programme for Brain and Cardiovascular Diseases (PNDCCV). Recognizing that institutional cooperation is an asset for the promotion and advancement of scientific knowledge and technological development, a protocol was signed between the FCT and the DGS/PNDCCV in order to develop the common objective of these entities and better support the national scientific community that develops research in the area of cardiovascular diseases.

One of the main goals of the ERA-CVD is to fund transnational Research and Development (R&D) projects in cardiovascular research. To this end, five Joint Transnational Calls have been launched annually (CTC2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020). The funded projects are presented in the following links:

This initiative has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 680969.
