FCT is a member of theIWRM-NETnetwork (2006-2010), a project involving 17 European funding agencies from 14 countries, which seeks to identify best practices as a basis for the cooperation needed to implement the European Research Area (ERA).

This project is specifically dedicated to promoting transnational cooperation between research funding agencies in Integrated Water Resources Management. Contributing simultaneously to the European Union's strategy, this project will enable funding agencies to share existing activities, compare future strategies and recommendations from advisory bodies in order to systematically explore opportunities for future collaborations.

One of the main objectives is the implementation of common strategies for financing transnational research projects on topics relevant to Integrated Water Resources Management.
