FCT is a member of the IWRM-NET network (2006-2010), a project involving 17 European funding agencies from 14 countries, seeking to identify best practices as a basis for the cooperation needed to implement the European Research Area (ERA).

This project is especially dedicated to promoting transnational cooperation between research funding agencies in Integrated Water Resources Management. While contributing to the European Union's strategy, this project will allow funding agencies to share existing activities, compare future strategies and recommendations from advisory bodies to systematically explore opportunities for future collaborations.

One of the main objectives is to implement common strategies for funding transnational research projects on relevant topics in the area of Integrated Water Resources Management.
