JTI - Joint Technology Initiatives
Joint Technology Initiatives (JTI) are public-private partnerships created by the European Commission under Article 187 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. JTIs have a dedicated administrative structure (the Joint Undertaking), and include the direct participation of industry associations in defining the areas and objectives of the Calls funding European collaborative projects in areas relevant to European competitiveness and industrial development. Some JTIs also include funding from Member States, which in these cases are also directly involved in the decision-making structure.
JTI with the participation of the FCT
Most of the JTIs currently underway are a direct partnership between the European Commission and the relevant industrial platforms. However, in some cases there is also direct participation by member states, thus reinforcing public funding for this industrial sector.
FCT ensures national participation in two of these JTIs, KDT, which succeeds ECSEL, dedicated to the area of electronic components and systems, for the period 2021-2027, and EuroHPC, dedicated to high-performance computing.
KEY DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES (KDT)
The KDT (Key Digital Technologies) Partnership follows on from the ECSEL (Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership) Joint Technological Initiative for the 2021-2027 period.
EUROHPC - EUROPEAN HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING
EuroHPC was created in 2019 to support the deployment of several supercomputers in Europe and to foster the development of High Performance Computing technologies.
