SBEP – Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership

By constituting an unprecedented effort of joint investment in marine Research and Innovation (R&I) and alignment of national programs on a pan-European scale, SBEP aims to drive a fair, inclusive, and necessary transformation towards a climate-neutral, sustainable, and productive blue economy by 2030, while creating and supporting the conditions for a healthy ocean by 2050.

This co-funded partnership brings together 74 organizations from 30 countries which, through a common strategic vision based on the R&I agendas of the sea basins (Mediterranean, Black Sea, Baltic, and North Sea) and the Atlantic Ocean, and building on lessons learned from previous initiatives, work together to support key EU policy objectives such as the green transition, digital transformation, and recovery, ultimately contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The FCT, AIR CENTRE – Association for the Development of the Atlantic International Research Centre, CCDRC – Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Center, DGPM – Directorate-General for Maritime Policy, and FRCT – Regional Science and Technology Fund are the Portuguese organizations that make up SBEP.

This initiative has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Program. Grant Agreement No. 101086379.
