European Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership launches 2nd Joint Call

European Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership

The European Partnership co-financed under the Horizon Europe Framework Program, SBEP – Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership, has opened the first phase of applications for the 2nd Joint Call (JTC) –“Unified paths to a climate-neutral, sustainable, and resilient blue economy: engaging civil society, academia, policy, and industry.”

The Call support transnational research and innovation projects lasting 36 months and addressing one of the following four priority areas:

Priority area 1: Digital Twins of the Ocean (DTO) at regional sub-basin scale 

– Priority area 2: Blue economy sectors, development of marine multi-use infrastructures 

– Priority area 3: Planning and managing sea-uses at the regional level 

– Priority area 4: Blue Bioresources

The deadline for the first phase of applications (pre-proposals) is 2:00 p.m. (Mainland Portugal time) on April 10. Only pre-proposals selected by the international evaluation panel will be invited to submit a full proposal in the second phase of applications, which will run from mid-July to November 6.

This Call the participation of national and regional funding organizations from 26 countries, responsible for financing research and innovation actions in the blue economy area, and has a budget of around €35 million. FCT, FRCT (Azores), and CCDR-Centro are the national organizations funding this Call.
