On April 20 at 9:30 a.m., ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics & Management will host a public session to present the results of the first six months of the National Girls in STEM Program, an initiative taking place during the week marking International Girls in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day.

The event, which is taking place in Lisbon at the ISEG CGD Auditorium (Quelhas Building), is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports. Its aim is to provide an update on the progress made by the program and to reflect on the challenges that remain in promoting gender equality in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

During the session, the results and progress of the National Girls in STEM Program will be presented, highlighting the impact of the policies and measures already implemented, as well as the priorities for its continuation and strengthening. The initiative also aims to underscore the political commitment to inclusion and gender equity in areas considered strategic for the country’s economic, social, and digital development.

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) is part of the Working Group responsible for the report that will be presented at the event. This work is part of the Action Plan for the National Digital Strategy for 2026–2027, specifically Measure 18.1—“Implementation of the National Program for Girls in STEM”—coordinated by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG), with the FCT as a participating entity.

The Action Plan puts into practice the objectives of the National Digital Strategy (NDS), which aims to position Portugal among the most advanced countries in the European Union in the field of digital transformation, while promoting equal opportunities in access to and participation in technological and scientific fields.

The session will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and is open to the public, subject to prior registration, which is available online.
