FCCN 2025 conference registers highest number of registrations ever
The 16th edition of the FCCN Conference, held at the Convent of São Francisco in Coimbra, took place from May 6 to 8, 2025, and saw record attendance figures. The event, organized by FCCN, the digital services of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), with the close support of the University of Coimbra and the Coimbra City Council, promoted knowledge sharing and connections between the scientific community, in a space particularly conducive to contact with the student environment and the spirit of innovation.
In total, FCCN 2025 registered 1,051 registrations, 116 speakers, and 39 sponsors, figures achieved with the support of the two main partners and the entire FCCN team, FCT digital services. This was the highest number of registrations ever for an event that has been very positively received.
Over the three days of the event, dozens of thematic sessions were held, including workshops, debates, and project presentations, focusing on the three main themes that structured these conferences: Technology for Knowledge; Sharing within the community; At the forefront of technology.
One of the new features of this edition, the Innovation Hub, allowed the community to share their projects in a more intimate setting, and was well received by the initiative's audience. Other topics highlighted included Artificial Intelligence, Process Automation Collaboration, and Innovation Programs.
The FCCN 2025 Conference was also marked by the presentation of new digital services and a strong focus on innovation, Artificial Intelligence, advanced computing, and the modernization of existing services in the knowledge ecosystem. The sessions dedicated to open access, scientific repositories, and digital services for the community were the stage for several new developments, as well as contributions and the exchange of best practices among all the entities present. These moments testify, once again, to the dynamism and growth of a community that, for the second consecutive year, broke the participation record.
At the closing session of the initiative, the location for the next edition of the FCCN Conference was announced. Porto will host the event from May 5 to 7, 2026, in an edition that will have the close support of the University of Porto.
