18th Edition of the L’Oréal Portugal Women in Science Award
Applications for the 18th edition of the L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science Award opened today, June 1, and will remain open until 5 p . m. (Lisbon time) on September 15, 2021. The Call, which is promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), L'Oréal Portugal, and the National Commission for UNESCO, has been held since 2003 and has already awarded more than 50 young researchers in Portugal.
This Call award four medals of honor, worth €15,000 (fifteen thousand euros) each, Call to all women who have obtained a doctoral degree less than five years prior to the opening date of Call, and who will not be over 35 years of age by the end of this year. For candidates who have children, the age limit may be extended by one year for each child, depending on the number of children.
The award aims to support advanced scientific research studies at postdoctoral level in Portuguese universities or other institutions of recognized merit in the field of Science, Engineering, and Technology for Health or the Environment.
It should be noted that the winners of Call were Joana Carvalho from the Champalimaud Foundation, Margarida Abrantes from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, Inês Fragata from the Center for Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Changes (cE3c) – Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, and Liliana Tomé from the Faculty of Science and Technology, New University of Lisbon.
