2nd Annual Meeting of the Science Interface Platform

The Science Interface Platform holds its 2nd annual meeting on March 2, at the Thalia Theatre in Lisbon, with a program dedicated to the theme "Interface to Science: adding value to knowledge". The event is aimed at managers, communicators and other professionals involved in the interface to science in Portugal, and is supported by the Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Higher Education and the FCT. Registration for participation is open until February 16.

The Science Interface Platform initiative arose with the purpose of promoting a meeting place and sharing between the various actors of the Research and Innovation system, and thus broaden and consolidate the network of contacts between interface professionals to science in Portugal.

This year's meeting aims to reflect on interface areas and their contribution to the development of the national Research and Innovation (R&I) system. The program includes a lecture by Johan Bollen, from Indiana University, on alternative proposals to the current research funding system, followed by a debate with the participation of representatives from different entities of the national R&I system. During the event there will also be an opportunity to discover the work of the Platform, participate and design the future of this national informal network, and contribute to a structured reflection on the professionalization of interface areas to science.
