3rd edition of Call for Individual Scientific Employment Call

Applications for the third edition of Call Individual Scientific Employment Call (CEEC Individual), promoted by FCT, open today and will run until February 26. The Call 300 vacancies for six-year contracts with PhD researchers. The contracts are divided into four categories: junior, assistant, principal, and coordinator.

The Individual CEEC is intended for PhD holders in all scientific fields who wish to carry out their scientific research or technological development activities in Portugal, at institutions that are part of the National Science and Technology System (SNCT), namely: R&D units, state laboratories, Associate Laboratories, collaborative laboratories and technology interface centers, science and technology infrastructures, and science and technology networks and consortia.

In their application, researchers must indicate their host institution, which must associate itself with the respective application between February 27 and March 18, 2020, as this is the only way for the application to be considered complete. The evaluation will be carried out by an international panel, which will take into account the candidate's scientific career with an emphasis on the last 5 years, which accounts for 70% of the evaluation, and the proposed research plan, which accounts for the remaining 30%. The contracts will be funded by FCT, and the candidates selected in Call the contract directly with the host institution.

CEEC Individual is one of the instruments for financing the hiring of researchers introduced by FCT in 2017, following the publication of Decree-Law No. 57/2016, which defines the regime for hiring PhDs, aimed at stimulating scientific and technological employment in all areas of knowledge. In the two editions already held, CEEC Individual has selected around 800 PhD researchers to sign employment contracts.
