3rd edition of the Call Encourage Individual Scientific Employment

Applications for the 3rd edition of the Call Encourage Individual Scientific Employment (CEEC Individual), promoted by the FCT, open today and will run until February 26. The Call has 300 vacancies for 6-year contracts with PhD researchers. The contracts are divided into four categories - junior, assistant, principal and coordinator.

The CEEC Individual is aimed at doctoral graduates in all scientific areas who wish to carry out their scientific research or technological development activities in Portugal, in institutions that are part of the National Science and Technology System (SNCT), namely: R&D units, State laboratories, Associate Laboratories, collaborative laboratories and technological interface centers, science and technology infrastructures and also science and technology networks and consortia.

In the application, researchers must indicate their host institution and this must be associated with their application between February 27 and March 18, 2020, as this is the only way the application will be considered complete. The evaluation will be carried out by an international panel, which will take into account the candidate's scientific career with an emphasis on the last 5 years, which makes up 70% of the evaluation, and the proposed research plan, which corresponds to the remaining 30%. The contracts will be funded by FCT, and the candidates selected in the Call will sign the contract directly with the host institution.

CEEC Individual is one of the funding instruments for hiring researchers introduced by FCT in 2017, following the publication of Decree-Law no. 57/2016, which defines the system for hiring doctoral graduates, aimed at stimulating scientific and technological employment in all areas of knowledge. In the two editions already held, CEEC Individual has already selected around 800 PhD researchers to sign employment contracts.
