The 5th edition of the CEEC Individual received 2910 applications

The 5th Call Stimulus for Individual Scientific Employment - CEEC Individual ended on March 3rd and received a total of 2910 applications. The Call promoted by FCT provides for the award of 400 work contracts to PhD researchers in all scientific areas. In all four editions, CEEC Individual has awarded a total of 1536 contracts to doctoral researchers.
In this 5th edition, 18.8% of the 2910 applications received are from the Natural Sciences area, followed by the Engineering and Technology area (17.7%), the Humanities area (17.6%) and the Social Sciences area (14.4%).

Women account for 53.5% of all applications and the total number of candidates is distributed as follows across the 4 available contractual categories: Junior Researcher - 1494 candidates, Assistant Researcher - 1111 candidates, Principal Researcher - 301 candidates; and Coordinating Researcher - 4 candidates. The most representative foreign candidates are from Brazil (200 candidates), Italy (141), Spain (130) and India (53).

After these 2910 applications were received, the phase of associating the host institutions followed, which ended on March 29, and the phase of verifying the admissibility of the applications is currently underway.

The CEEC Individual is one of the funding instruments of the Scientific Employment Stimulus Program defined by the Scientific Employment Regulation published in 2017 by the FCT, following the publication of Decree-Law no. 57/2016. The next edition will be launched by the end of this year, as provided for in Decree-Law no. 60/2018 and disclosed in the FCT Calls calendar for 2021-2023.
