The 5th edition of CEEC Individual received 2,910 applications
The 5th Edition of Call for Individual Scientific Employment Call – CEEC Individual ended on March 3 and received a total of 2,910 applications. The Call by FCT provides for the award of 400 employment contracts to PhD researchers in all scientific areas. In the four editions held so far, CEEC Individual has awarded a total of 1,536 contracts to PhD researchers.
In this 5th edition, 18.8% of the 2,910 applications received are in the field of Natural Sciences, followed by Engineering and Technology (17.7%), Humanities (17.6%), and Social Sciences (14.4%).
Women represent 53.5% of all applications, and the total number of candidates is distributed as follows across the four available contract categories: Junior Researcher – 1,494 candidates, Assistant Researcher – 1,111 candidates, Principal Researcher – 301 candidates; and Coordinating Researcher – 4 candidates. The most represented foreign candidates are from Brazil (200 candidates), Italy (141), Spain (130), and India (53).
After receiving these 2,910 applications, the host institution association phase followed, which ended on March 29. The application eligibility verification phase is currently underway.
The Individual CEEC is one of the funding instruments of the Scientific Employment Stimulus Program defined by the Scientific Employment Regulation published in 2017 by the FCT, following the publication of Decree-Law No. 57/2016. The next edition will be launched by the end of this year, as provided for in Decree-Law No. 60/2018 and announced in the Calls calendar for 2021-2023.
