The 5th Edition of the CEEC Individual received 2910 applications

The 5th edition Call Estímulo ao Emprego Científico Individual - CEEC Individual ended last March 3 and received a total of 2910 applications. The Call promoted by FCT provides for the allocation of 400 employment contracts to doctoral researchers in all scientific areas. In all the four editions, the CEEC Individual has already awarded a total of 1536 contracts to Ph.
In this 5th edition, 18.8% of the 2910 applications received are from the Natural Sciences area, followed by Engineering and Technology (17.7%), Humanities (17.6%) and Social Sciences (14.4%).

Women represent 53.5% of all applications and the total number of applicants is distributed as follows among the four contract categories available: Junior Researcher - 1494 applicants, Auxiliary Researcher - 1111 applicants, Senior Researcher - 301 applicants; and Coordinating Researcher - 4 applicants. The foreign candidates with the highest representation are from Brazil (200 candidates), Italy (141), Spain (130) and India (53).

After receiving these 2910 applications, the phase of association of the host institutions followed, which ended on March 29, and the phase of verification of the admissibility of the applications is now underway.

The Individual CEEC is one of the funding instruments of the Scientific Employment Stimulus Program defined by the Scientific Employment Regulation published in 2017 by FCT, following the publication of Decree-Law no. 57/2016. The next edition will be launched by the end of this year, as foreseen in Decree-Law no. 60/2018 and disclosed in FCT 's calendar of Calls for 2021-2023.
