‘Alexandria… Archives and Libraries: memory and preservation of heritage’
As part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, celebrated in 2018, the meeting "Alexandria... Archives and Libraries: memory and preservation of heritage" will take place on June 22, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Thalia Theater (in Lisbon).
The central theme of the meeting is Archival and Bibliographic Heritage, reinforcing its role and contribution to all areas of scientific knowledge, which are decisive elements for understanding our history and memory. The dissemination and communication of this heritage and the gathering of different contributions to the Thematic Research and Innovation Agenda on "Culture and Cultural Heritage" are also objectives of this event.
The focus will also be on the opportunities and challenges currently facing archives and libraries, with a view to sharing among participants. The event is especially aimed at information managers, archivists, librarians, and other information professionals, repository managers, researchers, and anyone interested in the topic.
The initiative is organized by the Foundation for Science and Technology – Science and Technology Archive, the State Secretariat for Science, Technology, and Higher Education, the Directorate-General for Books, Archives, and Libraries, and the National Library of Portugal.
