All-Atlantic 2021 - Atlantic R&I Cooperation for a Sustainable Ocean

Registration is now open for the All-Atlantic 2021 - Atlantic Cooperation in Research and Innovation (R&I) for a Sustainable Ocean: High-level Ministerial and Stakeholder Conference, held in the framework of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, June 2, 3 and 4, 2021, in Ponta Delgada, in a joint organization of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Ministry of the Sea, Regional Government of the Azores and the support of the European Commission.

This conference aims to promote cooperation in R&I across and along the Atlantic Ocean, from "Pole to Pole", and in a step forward in the work developed by the All-Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance. The two days of this event will bring together Ministers, high-level representatives, researchers, young people, entrepreneurs, academics, civil society and other stakeholders in a dialogue that will help strengthen the science diplomacy efforts initiated in 2011 at European level, with the launch of the Atlantic strategy and its first action plan (2013) and the signing of the Galway and Belem declarations (respectively in 2013 and 2017).

The ministerial dimension of the conference coupled with the dynamic participation of stakeholders and the side events will help leverage Atlantic R&I Cooperation through two important deliverables, the Portuguese EU Presidency Conference Declaration and the Atlantic Pledging Platform to strengthen and contribute to the European Ecological Pact, the Horizon Europe Starfish 2030 Mission: Restoring our Oceans and Water, as well as the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
