Evaluation and Financing of Academic Clinical Centers 2022

Following the submission of applications for the evaluation of the Clinical Academic Centers (CAC), which ended on April 11, the public presentation of the CACs will take place from May 23 to June 3. The presentation includes a discussion with the evaluation panel, in accordance with Article 15 of Regulation 735/2021, which establishes the terms of the external evaluation of clinical academic centers. Each public presentation session lasts 90 minutes.
The external evaluation of the CACs is coordinated by the FCT, which has delegated this evaluation to the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB) together with the Central Administration of the Health System, I.P. (ACSS), in close coordination with the Agency for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) and after hearing the National Council of Clinical Academic Centers (CNCAC).
Carried out by international experts, this external evaluation seeks to guarantee the performance assessment, monitoring and multi-annual funding of the CACs as integrated care, teaching and clinical and translational research structures, whose main objective is the advancement and application of knowledge and scientific evidence to improve the healthcare provided to the population.
