Applications open for Technology Internships at CERN, ESA, ESO, and EMBL

The FCT has opened Calls applications for 20 Studentships technological internships at four international scientific organizations of which Portugal is a member, namely the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Southern Observatory (ESO), and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). The Calls open until November 15 and are open to Portuguese graduates or those with higher academic degrees at the beginning of their careers. 

The FCT Technology Internship Program aims to provide candidates with the opportunity to undertake advanced training in leading international scientific organizations, seeking to develop a complementary training plan (on-the-job training) in strategic technological areas to increase the competitiveness of Portuguese companies.

Young people with a bachelor's or master's degree obtained less than six years ago, and with a doctorate obtained less than three years ago, are eligible to apply. The Studentships Call for training in a wide range of scientific fields, with internship opportunities ranging from engineering, natural sciences, and computer science to management, technology transfer and innovation, communication, and law. The number of places available at each institution is as follows: CERN – 8, ESA – 8, ESO – 2, and EMBL – 2.

The technological internships have a maximum duration of two years and are carried out under agreements signed by FCT with CERN, ESA, ESO, and EMBL.
