Call Advanced Computing Projects in Cloud Artificial Intelligence

The Call for Advanced Computing Projects in Cloud Artificial Intelligence, the result of a partnership between FCT and Google, will accept applications from March 30 until May 18. This Call aims to support research projects in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Portugal over the next two years. This partnership has resulted in Google Cloud Platform credits worth two million dollars being made available to FCT. This agreement will provide computing capacity to support excellent research in the national scientific and technological system.

The preferred areas of this Call will be research and development, which will account for 80% of the resources, and natural language processing and ethics in artificial intelligence. The remaining 20% is earmarked for other scientific areas. Research and development institutions, collaborative laboratories, technology centers, and science and technology infrastructures, networks and consortia can apply. Private non-profit institutions whose main purpose is research and development, digital innovation hubs and companies developing advanced computing projects (in research, development or innovation activities) can also apply. Applications from natural persons are also eligible, provided they are active in Portugal and intend to develop advanced computing projects in any scientific area.

There are several types of access within the scope of the Call: Fixed Access (credits on the Google Cloud Platform worth 25,000 USD) and Variable Access (credits on the Google Cloud Platform worth up to 150,000 USD).
