Call Advanced Computing Projects in Artificial Intelligence in the Cloud

The Call Advanced Computing Projects in Artificial Intelligence in the Cloud, the result of a partnership between FCT and Google, will accept applications from March 30 to May 18. This Call to support research projects in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Portugal over the next two years. This partnership has resulted in FCT being provided with credits on the Google Cloud Platform worth two million dollars. This agreement will provide computing capacity to support excellence in research in the national scientific and technological system.

The preferred areas of this Call research and development, which account for 80% of the resources, and natural language processing and ethics in artificial intelligence. The remaining 20% is earmarked for other scientific areas. Research and development institutions, collaborative laboratories, technology centers, and science and technology infrastructures, networks, and consortia are eligible to apply. Private non-profit institutions whose main purpose is research and development, digital innovation hubs, and companies that develop advanced computing projects (in research, development, or innovation activities) may also apply. Applications from individuals are also eligible, provided they are active in Portugal and intend to develop advanced computing projects in any scientific area.

There are several types of access within the Call: Fixed Access (credits on Google Cloud Platform, worth USD 25,000) and Variable Access (credits on Google Cloud Platform up to USD 150,000).
