Call IC&DT projects for the Côa Valley selected seven projects

This week, FCT announced the results of its evaluation of Call Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT) for the promotion of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary R&D activities to be carried out in the Vale do Côa region.

 

Thirty-two applications were evaluated, and seven projects were recommended for funding. The Call a budget of €2 million, coming from national funds from the budget of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., with each project receiving up to €300,000 in funding for a maximum period of 36 months.

 

This Call to the promotion of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary R&D activities to be carried out in the Vale do Côa region, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site on December 2, 1998, and its conceptual framework of discovering the origin of life, interaction with peoples and cultures, the natural world, and biological wealth. The aim is for the projects now selected to develop new knowledge about the region in various thematic areas, such as: observation and knowledge of the earth; climate and climate change; the origin of life and dynamics of sociocultural interaction over time; and biodiversity and biological resources, natural and cultural heritage, and sustainable regional development.

 

Projects will need to take a multidisciplinary and international approach, facilitating partnerships with recognized experts and institutions in order to further an R&D agenda on the heritage of the Côa Valley and its future prospects.
