Call for IC&DT projects for the Côa Valley selected 7 projects
The FCT announced this week the results of the evaluation of the Call for Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT) for the promotion of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary R&D activities to be carried out in the Côa Valley region.
32 applications were assessed and 7 projects were recommended for funding. The Call has an allocation of 2 million euros, from national funds from the budget of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., and each project will be funded up to a maximum of 300,000 euros for a maximum period of 36 months.
This Call was based on the promotion of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary R&D activities to be carried out in the Vale do Côa region, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site on December 2, 1998, and its conceptual framework for discovering the origin of life, interaction with peoples and cultures, the natural world and biological wealth. The aim is for the projects selected to develop new knowledge about the region in various thematic areas, such as: observation and knowledge of the land; climate and climate change; the origin of life and the dynamics of socio-cultural interaction over time; and biodiversity and biological resources, natural and cultural heritage and sustainable regional development.
The projects will have to adopt a multidisciplinary perspective and an international context, facilitating partnerships with experts and institutions of recognized merit in order to deepen an R&D agenda on the heritage of the Côa Valley and its projection for the future.
