Call Bilateral Research Fund (BRF)
Since 2019, Portugal and the United Kingdom have been even closer in terms of research. On June 1, 2019, FCT signed a protocol with PARSUK – Association of Portuguese Researchers and Students in the United Kingdom, an entity created in 2008 to promote communication within the Portuguese community of researchers and students in the United Kingdom. This protocol, valid until 2022, aims to promote scientific diplomacy between the United Kingdom and Portugal and bring the scientific communities of the two countries closer together.
One of the first initiatives under this partnership is the Call Bilateral Research Fund (BRF), which aims to establish and develop research links between universities and research institutes in both countries. Applications are open until January 31, 2020, in all scientific fields, and the Call funding of up to €3,000 to support the establishment of networks between institutions and individuals in the UK and Portugal. The project should last between 3 and 6 months and may include multiple missions during that period. The amount awarded may also be used to cover costs associated with the research itself, such as laboratory consumables, software licenses, or assistance with data collection and analysis. Applicants must have valid contractual affiliation with institutions in the United Kingdom or Portugal for the duration of the project.
More detailed information about this Call be found on the FCT website or on the PARSUK website.
