Call Portugal-UK Bilateral Research Fund (BRF)
Since 2019, Portugal and the United Kingdom have become even closer in terms of research. On June 1, 2019, FCT signed a protocol with PARSUK - Association of Portuguese Researchers and Students in the United Kingdom, an organization created in 2008 to promote communication within the Portuguese community of researchers and students in the UK. This protocol, valid until 2022, aims to promote scientific diplomacy between the UK and Portugal and bring the scientific communities of the two countries closer together.
One of the first initiatives under this partnership is the Portugal-UK Bilateral Research Fund (BRF) Call , which aims to establish and develop research links between universities and research institutes in the two countries. Applications are open until January 31, 2020 in all scientific fields, and the Call provides funding of up to 3000 euros to support the establishment of networks between institutions and people in the UK and Portugal. The duration of the project should be between 3 and 6 months, and may include multiple missions during this period. The amount awarded may also be used to cover costs associated with the research itself, such as laboratory consumables, software licenses or assistance with data collection and analysis. Applicants must have a valid contractual affiliation with institutions in the UK or Portugal for the duration of the project.
More detailed information about this Call can be found on the FCT website or on the PARSUK website.
