FCT and Aga Khan Development Network launch second Call joint projects
The FCT, in partnership with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is launching the 2nd Call funding for joint scientific research and technological development projects, open until September 30, 2019. The Call being held under the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Protocol established between the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Higher Education (MCTES) and the Ismaili Imamat.
This second Call €2.5 million in funding, with each project eligible for up to €250,000. The first Call was launched in 2017, with 16 projects selected for funding, representing a total joint investment by FCT-AKDN of €4.6 million.
Portuguese, African, and AKDN scientific and academic institutions are eligible to apply for this second call for proposals to establish new initiatives and collaborations with the aim of creating and developing research capacities in African countries.
Proposed projects should address emerging issues in the context of quality of life, including: food security and biodiversity, child development, education and assessment policies, habitat, sustainable energy systems and urban development, poverty reduction, resettlement of migrants, civil society, and pluralism. Proposals should encourage multidisciplinary collaboration and ensure sufficient resources and duration to enable capacity building and knowledge enhancement in Portugal and Africa in these areas.
