FCT and Aga Khan Development Network launch 2nd Call for joint projects
FCT, in partnership with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is launching the 2nd Call for funding for joint scientific research and technological development projects, open until September 30, 2019. The Call is carried out under the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Protocol established between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES) and the Ismaili Imamat.
This 2nd Call provides a sum of 2.5 million euros and each project can be funded up to 250,000 euros. In 2017, the 1st Call was launched and 16 projects were selected for funding, for a total joint FCT-AKDN investment of 4.6 million euros.
Portuguese, African and AKDN scientific and academic institutions can apply for this second call for proposals to establish new initiatives and collaborations, with the aim of creating and developing research capacities in African countries.
The projects proposed should be on emerging themes in the context of Quality of Life, including: food security and biodiversity, early childhood development, education and evaluation policies, habitat, sustainable energy systems and urban development, poverty reduction, migrant resettlement, civil society and pluralism. Proposals should encourage multidisciplinary collaboration and ensure sufficient resources and duration to build capacity and strengthen knowledge in Portugal and Africa in these areas.
