FCT and CERN open Call for IC&DT projects
FCT and CERN (European Laboratory for Particle Physics), within the framework of the agreement established between Portugal and CERN, have opened a Call for scientific research and technological development (IC&DT) projects whose applications run until 17:00 (Lisbon time) on October 15, 2021.
This Call aims to increase the national and international competitiveness of science and technology, and to strengthen the skills of scientific and technological institutions in the field of High Energy Physics, as well as in other areas relevant to Portuguese participation in CERN. The proposed projects must fall within the following thematic areas: Computing for particle physics; Experimental and theoretical particle and astroparticle physics; Instrumentation for particle physics; and Technologies associated with experimental particle physics.
The projects will be supported for a period of 24 months (extendable by a maximum of 12 months in duly justified cases) and a budget of 2.5 million euros is planned. The approved projects will be fully financed by national funds through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, with a maximum funding limit of 240 thousand euros per project.
The Call is aimed at research teams from non-business entities in the research and innovation (R&I) system, their institutes and research and development (R&D) units, and companies of any nature and in any legal form, as long as they are part of R&I projects led by non-business entities in the R&I system. They can apply individually or in co-promotion.
