FCT and CERN open Call of IC&DT projects

The FCT and CERN (European Laboratory for Particle Physics), under the agreement established between Portugal and CERN, have opened a Call for scientific research and technological development projects (IC&DT). Applications are open until 5 pm (Lisbon time) on October 15, 2021.

This Call aims to increase the national and international competitiveness of science and technology, and strengthen the skills of scientific and technological institutions in the field of High Energy Physics, as well as in other areas relevant to the Portuguese participation in CERN. The proposed projects must be framed in the following thematic areas: Computation for particle physics; Experimental and theoretical particle and astroparticle physics; Instrumentation for particle physics; and Technologies associated with experimental particle physics.

The projects will be supported for a period of 24 months (extendable for a maximum of 12 more months in duly justified cases) and a budget of 2.5 million euros is planned. The approved projects will be fully funded by national funds through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, with a maximum funding limit per project of 240 thousand euros.

The Call is aimed at research teams from non-corporate entities of the research and innovation system (R&I), their institutes and research and development units (R&D), and companies of any nature and under any legal form, provided that they are part of R&I projects led by non-corporate entities of the R&I system. They may apply individually or in co-promotion.
