FCT and Fulbright Commission strengthen collaboration
The FCT and the Fulbright Commission – Commission for Educational Exchange between the USA and Portugal – signed a new cooperation protocol , continuing the collaboration between the two institutions and reinforcing the joint plan for awarding Studentships , in force since 2014.
In 2017 , under this protocol, 45 Fulbright Studentships will be awarded with the support of the FCT, with emphasis on 30 new Studentships for Portuguese researchers and professors who wish to carry out research projects at universities or research centers in the United States.
The first Call under this new protocol runs from December 1st to 31st , and covers eight Studentships for professors who are benefiting from the sabbatical leave Studentship offered by the FCT. Applications must be made through the Fulbright Commission website. The joint Studentships award plan will also include Doctoral Studentships for Portuguese nationals in the US and Studentships for American Guest Professors and Researchers.
The protocol was signed on November 23 by the Presidents of the Boards of Directors of the Fulbright Commission and the FCT, respectively Prof. Dr. João Queiroz and Prof. Dr. Paulo Ferrão, at a ceremony on the sidelines of the Fulbright Thanksgiving Dinner.
On that occasion, an agreement was also signed that defines the terms under which it will be possible to combine Studentships FCT research of various types with Studentships awarded by the Fulbright Commission.
