FCT and Fulbright Commission strengthen collaboration

FCT and the Fulbright Commission - Commission for Educational Exchange between the USA and Portugal - have signed a new cooperation protocol, continuing the collaboration between the two institutions and reinforcing the joint plan for awarding Studentships, which has been in place since 2014.

In 2017Under this protocol, 45 Fulbright Studentships will be awarded with the support of FCT, with 30 new Studentships for Portuguese researchers and professors wishing to carry out research projects at universities or research centers in the United States.

The first Call under this new protocol runs from December 1st to 31st.and covers eight Studentships for teachers who are benefiting from the sabbatical Studentship offered by the FCT. Applications must be made via the Fulbright Commission website. The joint plan for awarding Studentships will also include doctoral Studentships for Portuguese nationals in the USA and Studentships for invited American professors and researchers.

The protocol was signed on November 23 by the Presidents of the Boards of Directors of the Fulbright Commission and the FCT, Prof. Dr. João Queiroz and Prof. Dr. Paulo Ferrão respectively, at a ceremony on the sidelines of the Fulbright Thanksgiving Dinner.

On the occasion, an agreement was also signed defining the terms under which FCT research Studentships of various types will be combined with Studentships awarded by the Fulbright Commission.
