GENDER RESEARCH 4 COVID-19 received 145 proposals

The special support "GENDER RESEARCH 4 COVID-19", which was launched by FCT in collaboration with the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality and the support of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG), received 145 project proposals submitted by 63 proposing entities.

This support, which corresponds to an overall investment of 500,000 euros, from national funds made available through the FCT budget, consists of an exceptional line of funding for the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. It aims to fund research and development projects and initiatives already underway or to be developed, which will enable the production and dissemination of knowledge about the gender impacts of the pandemic caused by Covid-19, about the constraints posed by gender social relations and the individual, economic and health reaction to the pandemic, and their future effects.

The submission of proposals for this special support took place between May 15 and June 2, and the 145 proposals received are distributed along the following research lines: - Gender and the Labor Market during and after the COVID-19 crisis (43%); - COVID-19, daily life, stereotypes and gender roles (28%); - COVID-19 and violence against women and domestic violence (29%).

Considering the character of urgency, rapid implementation projects will be supported, with a maximum of 4 months or 10 months of development, and a maximum funding limit for each project of 20 thousand euros or 40 thousand euros, respectively for each duration. The selection of proposals will be based on an evaluation carried out by external experts. Results are expected to be available by June 30.

This funding line is part of a varied set of support, Calls and other initiatives, launched this year by FCT within the scope of the fight against Covid-19: the support RESEARCH 4 COVID-19with two editions; the Call for R&D projects AI 4 COVID-19Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration; the support Gender Research 4 Covid-19the portal Science 4 COVID-19, o increasing RCTS capacity - Science, Technology and Society Network, which supports the teaching and research community's Internet connections; o increasing the capacity of services which ensure distance learning and teleworking in the academic and scientific community (Colibri, NAU, Educast, Videocast); and the creation of a website COVID-19 on the FCT websitewhich gathers all the information that is being issued, directly or indirectly related to this pandemic situation.
