Graduate Fellowship from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for researchers in Portugal
A researcher at the Telecommunications Institute (IT) and doctoral student at the University of Aveiro (UA), Alírio Boaventura received a $7,000 Studentship , becoming the first student from a Portuguese university to receive this award.
The IEEE is the world's largest organization in electrical engineering, in the category of radio frequency and microwaves (Microwave Theory and Techniques – MTT-S), and annually awards ten Graduate Fellowship Awards for recognition and funding of doctoral programs in this category. Generally awarded to researchers from renowned US or Canadian universities, selection for this Studentship based on the student's academic merit, scientific publications, and project proposal, as well as the merit of the supervisor and their institution.
