Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Graduate Fellowship for researcher in Portugal

A researcher at the Institute of Telecommunications (IT) and a PhD student at the University of Aveiro (UA), Alírio Boaventura received a Studentship for post-graduate studies of seven thousand dollars, becoming the first student from a Portuguese university to receive this award.

IEEE is the world's largest organization in electrical engineering, in the category of radio frequency and microwave(Microwave Theory and Techniques - MTT-S), and annually awards ten Graduate Fellowship Awards to recognize and fund doctoral programs in this category. Usually awarded to researchers from renowned North American or Canadian universities, the selection for this Studentship is based on the academic merit of the student, his/her scientific publications and the project presented, as well as the merit of the supervisor and his/her institution.
