JPI Oceans promotes visual arts award on its 10th anniversary

JPI Oceans is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and marking this milestone with the launch of an award—the Art & Photo Awards—with the aim of honoring the marine environment and the scientists who work tirelessly to ensure the health and productivity of the oceans.

By awarding these prizes, JPI Oceans seeks to promote the role of photography and the visual arts in addressing the challenge of communicating about the Earth's largest ecosystem, recognizing that these arts are fundamental in bringing society emotionally closer to the marine environment. In this sense, JPI Oceans is open to proposals that fall within its three main areas of activity: Ocean Health, Ocean Productivity, and Ocean Management and Governance.

The Art & Photo Awards has two categories: the Call and the JPI Oceans Call . Three works will be selected for each category, one of which will be declared the winner. The first-place winner will receive a prize of up to €1,000, and the two runners-up will each receive a prize of €500.
