Launch of the e.2030 National Digital Skills Initiative

This is an inter-ministerial initiative that brings together the government areas of Administrative Modernization, Science, Technology and Higher Education, Education, Labor, Planning and Infrastructure and Economy, and which aims to strengthen the basic skills in Information and Communication Technologies of the Portuguese population, preparing them for emerging and digital-based employment opportunities.

Portugal INCoDe.2030 aims to respond to three major challenges:
1. ensure digital literacy and inclusion for the exercise of citizenship;
2. encourage specialization in digital technologies and applications to improve employment and create a higher value-added economy;
3. produce new knowledge in international cooperation.

The initiative is developed around five axes of action: inclusion, education, qualification, specialization and research, each of which is associated with a set of objectives and public policy measures whose pursuit will be the responsibility of various institutions and entities.

At 3 pm, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, presents, on behalf of the Government, the National Digital Skills Initiative e.2030 – Portugal INCoDe.2030 . The Prime Minister, António Costa, closes the session at 4:30 pm.

The session will also be attended by the Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, the Minister of Education, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, the Secretary of State for Employment, Miguel Cabrita, the Secretary of State for Development and Cohesion, Nelson de Souza, and the Secretary of State for Industry, João Vasconcelos.
