Launch of the National e.2030 Digital Skills Initiative

This is an inter-ministerial initiative that brings together the governmental areas of Administrative Modernization, Science, Technology and Higher Education, Education, Labor, Planning and Infrastructures, and Economy, and aims to strengthen the basic skills in Information and Communication Technologies of the Portuguese population, preparing them for the emerging digital-based job opportunities.

O Portugal INCoDe.2030 aims to respond to three major challenges:
1. guarantee digital literacy and inclusion for the exercise of citizenship;
2. stimulate specialization in digital technologies and applications for the qualification of employment and a higher value-added economy;
3. produce new knowledge in international cooperation.

The initiative is developed around five lines of action: inclusion, education, qualification, specialization, and research, each one associated with a set of objectives and public policy measures whose pursuit will be the responsibility of various institutions and entities.

At 3 pm, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, will present, on behalf of the Government, the National e.2030 Digital Skills Initiative - Portugal INCoDe.2030. The Prime Minister, António Costa, will close the session at 4:30 pm.

The session will also be attended by the Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, the Minister of Education, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, the Secretary of State for Employment, Miguel Cabrita, the Secretary of State for Development and Cohesion, Nelson de Souza, and the Secretary of State for Industry, João Vasconcelos.
