New amounts for PhD Studentships Stipends

PhD Studentships merged by FCT will have new stipend amounts. The Monthly Maintenance Stipend (SMM) has been updated in line with the Portuguese Consumer Price Index (CPI – Annual Average) for 2017, as determined by the State Budget Law 2018.

 The new amounts will be:

Studentships in Portugal: SMM updated from €980.00 to €993.43;
Studentships Abroad: SMM updated from R$ 1,710.00 to R$ 1,733.43;
Studentships in Industry: SMM updated from €980.00 to €993.43 (amount is paid in equal parts by FCT and the company where the work program is carried out unless otherwise agreed).

The update applies retroactively to all amounts paid as SMM since January 1, 2018. The sum will be transferred to the bank account where the scholarships are usually processed. SMM updates will be processed in May or, at latest, in June.
