New amounts for PhD Studentships Stipends

The PhD Studentships funded by FCT will have new stipend amounts. The Monthly Maintenance Stipend (SMM) has been updated in line with the Portuguese Consumer Price Index (IPC - Annual Average) for 2017, as determined by the State Budget Law for 2018.

 The new amounts will be:

Studentships in Portugal: SMM updated from 980,00€ to 993,43€;
Studentships Abroad: SMM updated from 1.710,00€ to 1.733,43€;
Studentships in Industry: SMM updated from 980,00€ to 993,43€ (amount is paid in equal parts by FCT and the company where the work program is carried out unless otherwise agreed).

The update applies retroactively to all amounts paid as SMM since January 1, 2018. The sum will be transferred to the bank account where the scholarships are usually processed. The SMM updates will be processed in May or, at the latest, in June.
