Portugal represented at the highest level at NAFSA 2022 in Denver

The Study and Research in Portugal pavilion will once again be present at NAFSA 2022 Annual Expo & Exhibition, this year dedicated to the theme "Building our Sustainable Future", which will be held in Denver, Colorado (USA), from May 31st to June 3rd, 2022.

This year's pavilion is the largest ever for a Portuguese delegation, and will have more than 50 representatives from 22 Portuguese universities and polytechnics, as well as from other programs and institutions.

The participation in the event is part of the USA-Portugal Campus initiative, which results from the joint work of the Erasmus + Education and Training National Agency (ANE+), the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) and the Fullbright Commission in Portugal, which created and implemented a strategy to bring the USA and Portugal closer together in terms of academic mobility, giving Portugal greater visibility as a destination for American students.

The NAFSA conference/fair is the largest gathering of international educators and service providers in North America. It usually attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world, and the show floor has more than 400 exhibit halls from over 50 countries.

  • The representation of Portuguese research and higher education institutions at the Study & Research in Portugal pavilion at NAFSA (pavilion #1230) is an important opportunity to:
  • Promoting a cohesive and attractive image of Portugal, in order to obtain a significant share of foreign students and researchers, namely through the portal Study & Research in Portugal;
  • Strengthen the image and competitiveness of the participating institutions;
  • Develop contacts, not only with established partners, but also with new and potential future partners in North America and other parts of the world;
  • Establish direct contact with professionals with responsibilities in the same area of work;
  • Deepen your knowledge of the various components of international education administration through participation in workshops, panels, and trainings offered at the conference;
  • Participate in events and networking opportunities;
  • To share knowledge about the diversity of offerings in Portuguese higher education with Portuguese diaspora partners in the US.

To enable further exploration of these opportunities, the presence at NAFSA will be followed by a visit of the Portuguese delegation to the San Francisco area, in coordination with the Consulate General of Portugal in San Francisco. The visit will include meetings and networking with representatives from the University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University, Santa Clara University, and the local Portuguese community.
