President of FCT receives title of Emeritus from the University of Lisbon

Helena Pereira, President of the Board of Directors of the FCT, will receive the title of Emeritus of the University of Lisbon, granted by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA). The title will be awarded at a ceremony that will take place on June 22, Wednesday, starting at 5 pm, at Estufa Real, in the Ajuda Botanical Garden.

Helena Pereira, a former Técnico student, is a full professor at ISA, University of Lisbon. She was vice-president of the FCT from 2017 to 2019, and was then appointed President of the FCT Board of Directors, a position she currently holds. Graduated in Chemical-Industrial Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico, PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) from the Faculty of Biology at the University of Hamburg, Germany and associate professor at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, her research area has been forests and forest products, including bioenergy and biorefineries, from an integrated and multidisciplinary perspective. She has always demonstrated interest and commitment to gender issues in research and was president of Amonet, the Portuguese Association of Women Scientists. In December 2021, she received the Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo 2020 Award , granted by the Instituto Superior Técnico (Técnico).
