The winning projects of the first Participatory Budget Portugal (OPP) will be announced on Thursday, September 14, at 3:00 p.m., at a ceremony open to the public at the Pavilion of Knowledge. The session will be attended by the Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, and the Deputy Secretary of State for Administrative Modernization, Graça Fonseca.

The first OPP was launched by the Portuguese Government at the beginning of this year. Voting on the projects submitted by citizens and accepted for Call on September 10, and the results of this process will now be announced.

The proposals submitted to the OPP resulted in concrete ideas for projects in the areas of culture, science, education and adult training, and agriculture on the mainland, and in the areas of justice and internal administration in the Autonomous Regions.

The proposals submitted were validated in accordance with technical principles and transformed into projects, with a defined investment value and expected implementation deadline. A total of 599 projects were put to the vote, 97 of which were in the field of science.

National citizens and foreign citizens legally residing in Portugal, aged 18 or over, were eligible to vote in the OPP, with each person entitled to two votes: one for regional projects and one for national projects. Voting could be doneonline and bySMS.
