The winning projects of the first Participatory Budgeting Portugal (PPO) will be announced on September 14, Thursday, at 3:00 pm, in a ceremony at the Pavilion of Knowledge, open to the public. The session will be attended by the Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, and the Assistant Secretary of State and Administrative Modernization, Graça Fonseca.

The first PPO was triggered by the Portuguese Government earlier this year, voting on the projects submitted by citizens and admitted to Call ended last September 10th, and now the results of this process will be known.

The proposals to the OPP were translated into concrete ideas for projects in the areas of culture, science, adult education and training, and agriculture on the mainland, and in the areas of justice and internal administration in the Autonomous Regions.

The proposals submitted were validated according to technical principles and transformed into projects, with a defined investment amount and foreseeable deadline for implementation. A total of 599 projects were submitted to a vote, 97 of which in the area of science.

National citizens and foreign citizens legally residing in Portugal, aged 18 or older, were eligible to vote in the OPP, each being entitled to two votes: one for territorial projects and one for national projects. Voting could be doneonline and viaSMS.
