Regulation for Scientific Employment has been approved
(English version available soon)
The Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education has approved the Scientific Employment Regulation. The regulation will come into force once it has been published in the Diário da República.
As support for scientific employment is a priority for the FCT, under this regulation financial support will be created to stimulate the hiring of new researchers and the development of scientific employment plans and scientific careers by public or private institutions. The FCT will therefore open two Calls:
- Support for the hiring of doctoral researchers in all scientific areas and their integration into research units funded by the FCT and their respective host institutions - direct support for the hiring of doctoral researchers, through annual Calls promoted by the FCT, in order to facilitate the continuous and systematic integration of new doctoral graduates into scientific institutions.
- Support for scientific employment plans and the development of scientific careers by higher education institutions, state laboratories and scientific institutions, whether public or private - support for the development of R&D activities by enshrining and stimulating, among other things, the hiring of PhD researchers by scientific institutions, through annual Calls addressed to the institutions and promoted by the FCT.
This financial support strengthens the national scientific and technological system and promotes employment opportunities for doctors, facilitating the formalization of scientific employment and contributing to greater national attractiveness for highly qualified young people. They also contribute to the rejuvenation of scientific institutions, attracting more and better scientists, and to facilitating a framework that stimulates the mobility of researchers.
