Regulation for Scientific Employment has been approved
(English version available soon)
The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education approved the Regulation for Scientific Employment. The regulation will come into force after its publication in Diário da República.
As the support for Scientific Employment is a priority for FCT, under this regulation financial support will be created to stimulate the hiring of new researchers and the development of scientific employment plans and scientific careers by public or private institutions. FCT will thus open two Calls:
- Support for the hiring of doctorate researchers in all scientific areas and their insertion in FCT-funded research units and respective host institutions - direct support for the hiring of doctorate researchers, through Calls annually promoted by FCT, in order to facilitate the continuous and systematic integration of new doctorate holders in scientific institutions.
- Support for scientific employment plans and the development of scientific careers by higher education institutions, State laboratories and scientific institutions, public or private - support for the development of R&D activities by establishing and stimulating, among other things, the hiring of researchers with doctorates by scientific institutions, through annual Calls directed at institutions and promoted by the FCT.
These financial supports strengthen the national scientific and technological system and promote employment opportunities for PhDs, facilitating the formalization of scientific employment and contributing to greater national attractiveness for highly qualified young people. They also contribute to the rejuvenation of scientific institutions, attracting more and better scientists, and to facilitate a framework that stimulates the mobility of researchers.
