Results of the "la Caixa" Foundation's Call Social Research 2021 with FCT

The results of the Call Social Research 2021 approved the funding of 17 candidate projects, 4 of which are led by Portuguese institutions and researchers. The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), under the agreement signed with the "la Caixa" Foundation in 2020, will directly fund two of these projects, which will be developed over the next 2 years, with an investment of around 200,000 euros.

This Call is being held under the i4s Iberian Research and Social Innovation Initiative between FCT and the "la Caixa" Foundation, which supports research projects in the social area. The collaboration with the FCT has been ongoing since the 2020 edition, and has made it possible to jointly fund a total of 6 projects led by Portuguese institutions, with a total joint investment of more than 580,000 euros.

The 17 proposals selected in the 2021 edition aim to support social research projects based on quantitative data that stand out for their excellence and that, through an original and innovative approach, generate robust and solid information that allows for an in-depth understanding of the present and future social challenges of Portugal and/or Spain.

The 4 Portuguese projects selected in this Call come from research centers and universities in two regions: two projects from the North (Porto and Braga) and two projects from Lisbon.
