Final results for Call Maria de Sousa 2021

FCT has published the final results of the Call de Studentships de doutoramento Maria de Sousa 2021, with 33 Studentships research grants recommended for funding, a total that confirms the provisional results, released in July. The attribution of these Studentships represent a total investment of 2.4 million Euros. See the final list here.

The final results of the evaluation show that 79% of the selected applicants are women, 15% are of foreign nationality, and 18% of the work plans are carried out in conjunction with foreign researchers and institutions.

This Call is oriented towards obtaining new knowledge to create skills to respond to epidemiological and virological phenomena, including pandemics, and to translate them into efficient prevention measures, better health care and effective support to citizens. Its title is a tribute to the researcher Maria de Sousa, Professor Emeritus of the University of Porto and researcher emeritus of the i3S Institute, and also Full Professor Emeritus of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar, internationally recognized for their studies in immunology and especially on the thymus-dependent area, or T-area.

The contracting process of the Studentships approved under this Call starts from this date, in accordance with the FCT Research Regulation Studentships . As in previous Calls , it is the grant holder who indicates the start date of the funding of Studentship, which must be between September 1, 2021 and August 1, 2022, as stated in Notice of the Call of Call, with retroactive payment of Studentship, when applicable.

The candidates with an unfavorable decision have 15 working days to file a complaint against the final decision or, alternatively, 30 working days to appeal through the respective area on the MyFCT portal.
