Science and Technology Week 2016

From November 21 to 27, Science and Technology Week will take place. The Week integrates the National Day of Scientific Culture, celebrated on November 24th, birth date of Rómulo de Carvalho, professor of physical chemistry and poet also known by the pseudonym António Gedeão, greatly responsible for the promotion of scientific culture in Portugal.

During S&T Week 2016, scientific institutions, universities, schools and museums will provide the public with opportunities for scientific observation and personal contact with specialist from different fields of knowledge.

The Living Science Agency is one of the organizations organizing events in this area, having gathered in a program nearly a hundred activities. Throughout the country there will be workshops, open doors and visits to laboratories, scientific tours, astronomical observation, film and documentary screenings, guided tours to museums, workshops, science cafés and lectures.

The Ciência Viva program will close with the Montepio Ciência Viva Awards ceremony, on November 27th, at 5pm, at the Pavilion of Knowledge. These awards recognize and encourage individual and collective effort in promoting scientific and technological culture in Portugal.
