Thematic Agendas for Science and Innovation

(avaliable only in English)

Invitation to the Scientific and Technological Community

Following the Council of Ministers Resolution no. 32/2016 of 3 June and, in particular, what is defined in the annex "Commitment to Knowledge and Science: Commitment to the Future", FCT has promoted a process of development of fourteen Research and Innovation Agendas on the topics identified below. In this context, FCT invites all interested parties to send contributions to the ongoing discussions, using the form provided below, until May 31, 2017.

The R&I Agendas aim to mobilise the different national actors, contributing to finding science-based answers to different societal challenges. The R&I Agendas are expected to contribute to identifying challenges and opportunities and to foster the articulation between different actors of the research and innovation system in Portugal, in a long-term perspective. In addition to identifying the country's strengths in each theme, the agendas will allow the identification of emerging and promising areas for the Portuguese research and innovation community. The promotion of these agendas does not interfere with the regular process of opening Calls for funding promoted by FCT in all scientific fields.

The R&I Agendas are developed by elements of the scientific and business community and other sectors of Portuguese society, experts on each topic, in collaboration with FCT, and will rely on the contributions of all those who, individually or institutionally, wish to participate in this exercise.

Thus, we invite the participation of all interested parties by briefly answering 4 questions, which aim to assess challenges and future prospects for research and innovation in each theme, through the respective form available below.

Before the conclusion of the work, a phase of presentation and public discussion of a preliminary version of the documents is still planned.
