Three researchers awarded L'Oréal Medals
Three more researchers have been awarded the "L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science", in the ninth edition of the initiative. Ana Abecassis from the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Ana Ribeiro from the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Leonor Morgado from REQUIMTE/CQFB were selected for their research into antiretrovirals for HIV, bone marrow regeneration and clean energy production, respectively.
In addition to the "Medal of Honor", representing recognition by peers in an evaluation process monitored by the FCT, each of the winners receives support of 20,000 euros from L'Oréal Portugal.
The initiative is the result of a partnership signed in 2004 between the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), L'Oreal Portugal and the National Commission for UNESCO (CNU). Since then, 28 scientists in the fields of Life Sciences and the Environment have been honored.
