Three researchers awarded with L'Oréal Medals

Three more female researchers were distinguished with the "L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science", in the ninth edition of the initiative. Ana Abecassis from the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Ana Ribeiro from the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Leonor Morgado from REQUIMTE/CQFB were selected for their research on antiretrovirals for HIV, bone marrow regeneration and clean energy production, respectively.

In addition to the "Medal of Honor", representative of the recognition by peers, in an evaluation process accompanied by FCT, each of the winners receives a support of 20 000 Euros awarded by L'Oréal Portugal.

The initiative is the result of a partnership signed in 2004 by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), L'Oreal Portugal and the National Commission of UNESCO (CNU). Since then, 28 scientists in the areas of Life Sciences and Environment have been distinguished.
