"New Frontiers in tech" was the theme of CMU Portugal's Annual Conference

The CMU Portugal program held its annual conference last November 9 and 10, which took place at the Beato Creative Hub under the theme "New Frontiers in tech".

The event brought together 16 members of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), including the dean of CMU's College of Engineering, Bill Sanders, and pro-rector James H. Garrett. The president of FCT, Madalena Alves, was present at the opening ceremony to underline the enduring support for the partnership with CMU Portugal Program, which already has more than 15 years of activity.

The conference was attended by researchers and students and alumni from Portuguese universities, CMU and companies involved in the program. The companies Feedzai, a Portuguese unicorn startup born in the CMU Portugal Program, as well as OutSystems and Unbabel, also affiliated to the program, were represented. Presentations of projects under the program also included Dstsolar, Glintt, Mobileum, Hospital da Luz Learning Health, Ingeniarius, among others, as well as potential partners such as Wow Systems and Neurospace.

This two-day meeting represented an opportunity to bring together knowledge from business and academia from both sides of the Atlantic, with the aim of paving the way for collaborations between Portugal and the United States, and exploring the many opportunities offered within the international partnership for research collaborations and programs.
