“New Frontiers in Tech” was the theme of the CMU Portugal Annual Conference
The CMU Portugal program held its annual conference on November 9 and 10 at the Beato Creative Hub, under the theme "New Frontiers in Tech."
The event brought together 16 members of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), including CMU College of Engineering Dean Bill Sanders and Vice President James H. Garrett. FCT President Madalena Alves attended the opening ceremony to underscore her enduring support for the partnership with the CMU Portugal Program, which has been active for more than 15 years.
The conference was attended by researchers, students, and alumni from Portuguese universities, CMU, and companies involved in the program. Represented were Feedzai, a Portuguese unicorn startup that was born in the CMU Portugal Program, as well as OutSystems and Unbabel, also affiliates of the program. Project presentations within the program also included Dstsolar, Glintt, Mobileum, Hospital da Luz Learning Health, Ingeniarius, among others, as well as potential partners such as Wow Systems and Neurospace.
This two-day meeting provided an opportunity to bring together knowledge from the business sector and academia on both sides of the Atlantic, with the aim of paving the way for collaborations between Portugal and the United States, and exploring the countless opportunities offered within the scope of international partnerships for research collaborations and programs.
